Own our launches end to end and product marketing for the German market, hybrid from Berlin, Amsterdam or Zoetermeer.

Job description

This is Shiftbase

Every shift-based business starts with people who built something worth showing up for. Admin buries that work under schedules, timesheets, and WhatsApp threads. Shiftbase exists to take that admin away.

More than 8,000 shift businesses use Shiftbase to plan shifts, track hours, and manage leave. Every day, 250,000+ employees are scheduled in Shiftbase, in hospitality, retail, healthcare, logistics, and every other business that runs on shifts.

We're 85+ people, with our headquarters in Zoetermeer, a hub in Amsterdam, and an office in Berlin. Shiftbase started in the Netherlands, and Germany is now our fastest-growing market.

You own launches and the German market

You're joining the product marketing team to own two things.

The first is launches. Every quarter we ship features that help sales win deals and help customers get more out of Shiftbase. Your job is to form the narrative that connects these releases and brings them to life across our go-to-market work. You'll partner closely with product to manage rollouts, and plan and run each launch end to end: the story, achieving a commercial goal through campaigning and enablement, the web and help centre updates, and the training for sales and customer success.

The second is the German market. You're the voice in the product on how German businesses buy scheduling and time tracking software, what they compare us with, and which German rules shape the product, such as minijobs and working-time recording. Then you're the voice of the product in the market: our German sales and customer success teams come to you for the pitch, the answers to objections, and the material they use with prospects.

You work hands-on, embedded with product, and report to the Head of Product Marketing. We hire at mid-level, and the role grows into a senior one as you take on our biggest launches.

What you'll do

  • Partner with product management from the moment a feature is an idea. You agree how big the launch is, what it has to achieve, and when and how it goes to market. You place each launch in our launch tiers, which set how much work each launch gets.

  • Own the go-to-market plan for each launch: the positioning, the messages per market, the campaign, the launch date, and a named owner in every team, who knows what they deliver and by when.

  • Partner with sales and customer success on every launch. You give them the pitch, the demo story, the objection answers, and a short training, in German and English.

  • Own the core German sales material outside launches too: pitch decks, competitor comparisons and battlecards, and objection answers.

  • Run continuous discovery with customers and prospects. You collect their objections and their words, and you bring them back to product while the feature is still being built. You sharpen your product and customer sense by being out in the field at customers, events, and trade shows.

  • Coordinate the customer-facing documentation for smaller releases with our help centre team, so customers find out what changed and how to use it.

  • Measure what each launch returned, and share the result with the teams that worked on it.

Your first year

  • Month 1: You've spoken with at least 10 German customers and prospects, sat in on sales and customer success calls, and written down their objections in their own words. You've joined the launches already in flight.

  • Month 3: German sales uses your rebuilt sales kit in live deals: the pitch deck, the competitor comparisons and battlecards, and the objection answers. With marketing and lifecycle, you've revised the German messaging on the homepage, the pricing page, and the trial emails, and it's live.

  • Month 6: You own launches end to end. The first one is live, with a plan, a date, a trained sales team, and a number to measure it against. You've measured your German funnel changes against where they started.

  • Month 12: Product, sales, and customer success treat you as the expert on German go-to-market. You connect what customers tell us with what product builds and where the company is heading, and you start taking on our biggest launches.

How we work together

What good looks like, framed within Shiftbase's four values.

  • Ready, Set, Go: we decide early and act with purpose. Each launch gets a plan early and runs to it.

  • Raise the Bar: good enough is where we start. You own your launches and don't wait for permission.

  • Say it Straight: we say what we mean, early and clearly. You tell product when a feature isn't ready to sell.

  • Stronger Together: nobody beats admin alone. You build every launch with product, sales, and customer success.

Where you work

You work from one of our three offices: Berlin, Amsterdam or Zoetermeer. How your week looks depends on which office you live near.

Wherever you live, you start with two weeks at our headquarters in Zoetermeer: product training and onboarding with the product marketing, product, and go-to-market leads. No matter your location, you and your manager have a weekly 1:1 and will also have regular sync/async communication.

  • If you live near Berlin: you sit with our German go-to-market team. In your first three months, you're in the Berlin office most days, because you learn the team, the product, and the customers faster in person. From month four, you work hybrid and choose your office days. You travel to Zoetermeer once a quarter, and your manager visits you in Berlin once a quarter, and every month in your first three months.

  • If you live near Amsterdam: you work hybrid from our Amsterdam hub, and you’re at our headquarters in Zoetermeer at least once a week, on Tuesday or Thursday. Once a quarter, you travel to Berlin to work with our German go-to-market team in person.

  • If you live near Zoetermeer: you work hybrid from our headquarters and choose your office days. Once a quarter, you travel to Berlin to work with our German go-to-market team in person.

What we offer

Salary and benefits depend on the location you're employed in.

  • A gross annual salary, depending on your experience: €60,000 to €72,000 in Berlin, and €62,000 to €72,000 plus 8% holiday pay in Amsterdam and Zoetermeer.

  • 30 days of holiday in Germany, or 25 days in the Netherlands.

  • A company pension. In Germany, Shiftbase adds 20% on top of your own contribution. In the Netherlands, Shiftbase pays half the contribution.

  • A Deutschland-Ticket in Berlin, or an NS Business Card or mileage allowance in the Netherlands.

  • A laptop of your choice.

  • A personal development budget of €1,000 a year for courses, conferences, books, or coaching.

  • A role where the work you ship reaches more than 8,000 shift businesses, and where you shape how product marketing works as the team grows.

How the interviews work

  1. Screening call: a first call about your background and what you're looking for.

  2. First interview: Alex Jost, Head of Product Marketing, shares more about the role, gets to know you, and talks through your launches and how you work.

  3. Task: you get a short case based on a hypothetical Shiftbase launch, and time to prepare it.

  4. Presentation: you present the task to a panel of PMM stakeholders and answer their questions.

  5. Final conversation: you meet Jurrien Strobel, our founder and CRO.

Apply with your CV. The form also asks you a few short questions.

Job requirements

What you need

  • At least three years in product marketing at a B2B SaaS company.

  • Native or near-native German, and fluent business English. You write clearly in both, because most of your work ends up in front of customers as well as internal audiences.

  • Launches you ran end to end with product, sales, and customer success, and results you can show from them.

  • The habit of starting with the customer. You'd rather sit in on a sales call or visit a customer than guess what buyers think.

  • Knowing that Alex’s favourite German compound noun is “Zettelwirtschaft”

  • Comfort with numbers. You set a target for a launch and check it afterwards.

  • The flexibility to travel once a quarter: from Berlin to Zoetermeer, or from the Netherlands to Berlin.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SMB software, where customers buy online as well as through sales.

  • Knowledge of hospitality or retail tech.

  • Experience building or marketing HR products.

  • Dutch, or experience working with Dutch teams.

  • Experience using AI tools in your day-to-day marketing work.
